Trojans eighth at State Dual Championships
KEARNEY, Neb. -- Cambridge finished eighth place in Class D at the 2018 State Dual Championships held Saturday at the University of Nebraska-Kearney’s Health and Sports Center.
The Trojans lost two narrow duals Saturday. They opened with a 38-36 first round loss to Mullen.
Cambridge got pin fall victories from John tenBensel (120), Keegan Benson (182), Matthew Pearson (195), Seth Andrews (220) and Tyler Schultz (285) as well as a forfeit win at 106.
In their second dual, the Trojans lost to perennial wrestling power Amherst 42-36.
Pearson, Andrews and Zack Miller-Sickels (126) recorded wins over Broncos, while Benson, Horwart and Schultz notched open-weight forfeit victories.
Burwell won the Class D championship over Elkhorn Valley 44-30. RPAC member Maxwell defeated Mullen in the third-place dual 43-36, while Tri-County defeated Amherst for fifth place 42-30.
Other class champions were Kearney High in Class A (36-34 over Lincoln East), Omaha Skutt in Class B (36-33 over Blair) and Broken Bow over Valentine (46-31).
