McCOOK, Neb. — McCook Community College is looking for people with ideas they’d like to turn into business ventures.

The event is free and includes Friday dinner and three Saturday meals but registration is required before Jan. 12.

“Biz Launch Weekend” is set for Jan. 19 and 20 at MCC and is for anyone in Southwest Nebraska with a business idea they’d like help in developing. At the end of this two-day workshop there is also the chance to share a lean business model with potential investors and earn a $1,000 business grant to help make your idea happen.

This is for anyone from Chase, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Hitchcock, Hayes, Red Willow and Frontier Counties.

Along with MCC’s for-credit entrepreneurial certificate program and the Hormel Entrepreneurship competition the college is offering a shorter program for people at the idea stage.

The weekend starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18 with a three-hour session and continues on Saturday, Jan. 19 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. During that day-and-a-half, attendees will learn bite-sized lessons and receive individual coaching from mentors throughout the event.

Organizers are looking for anyone in the eligible counties looking for a new venture; someone who has created a new device and wondering what is the next step; high school or college students with an idea for the future; or someone considering starting a business in retirement.
