Tri Valley Health affiliating with Avera Health
CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — On Oct. 18, Tri Valley Health System’s Board of Directors approved an affiliate agreement with Avera Health. The agreement is effective December 1, 2017. Through the agreement Avera Health will provide a full range of consultation services and management support. Tri Valley Health System’s Board of Directors remains the decision-making body of all operational aspects of Tri Valley Health System and ownership of the health campus remains local.
The Tri Valley Health System includes
* Cambridge Memorial Hospital, a 20-bed critical access hospital
* Cambridge Medical Clinic with two satellite clinics in Arapahoe and Indianola
* Heritage Plaza Retirement Village
* Cambridge Manor, a 36-bed long-term care center
* Tri Valley Assisted Living, which includes 20 units
* Tri Valley Wellness Center
The system employs approximately 150200, and all will remain employees of Tri Valley Health System. “Through this agreement, Avera will support us with a full range of management services. While Avera will make recommendations to us through the management agreement, decision-making control remains with our local boardI’m looking forward to partnering with Avera and the full range of services, support, and resources they will provide to us,” said Deborah Herzberg, CEO of Tri Valley Health System.
Tri Valley began working with Avera in 2016 through the Avera eCARE® Pharmacy service, a 24-hour telepharmacy service which provides verification of medication orders before they are given to patients.
“This was a two-year, 16-month process to identify the right system to partner with that understands rural health care and would help us fulfill our mission to improve the lives we touch by providing care of the highest quality,” said Tri Valley Health System Board President Randy Heitmann. “We are impressed with Avera’s track record of working with 28 33 other hospitals in rural communities like ours, and feel that they are dedicated to strengthening our services.” Avera Health was selected as a partner for their alignment with Tri Valley Health System’s mission and for the wide range of resources and expertise they will provide.

These partnerships take the form of a facility being owned, leased or managed by Avera, or another type of affiliation best suited for a particular situation. Partnerships benefit local communities in the form of long-term stability, greater access to updates in equipment and technology, and help with physician recruitment.
