Benefit set for Stamford family that lost home to fire

STAMFORD, Neb. -- Friends in the Stamford and Orleans areas plan a benefit to help a Stamford couple who lost their home and possessions in a house fire Dec. 26.

To help Dale and Janet Laizure rebuild their lives, the Orleans Lions and Stamford Trinity Lutheran Church will host a fund-raising lunch and auction Sunday, Jan. 22, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Ag Center in Orleans.

Free will offerings will be accepted for a lunch of chili, chicken noodle soup, relishes, desserts and drinks.

A live auction by Martin Auction Co. starts at noon.

Monetary donations will be accepted at the benefit or at Community Bank in Alma and Stamford. They can also be mailed to Community Bank, P.O. Box 897, Alma, NE 68920, or Community Bank, P.O. Box 95, Stamford, NE 68977.

Donations will be supplemented by Thrivent Financial.
