KEARNEY, Neb. -- Maxine P. Ridgway, 97, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at the Mother Hull Home in Kearney. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral Chapel in Kearney with Pastor Robert Perry officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at the Oberlin, Kansas Cemetery with Pastor Gordon Pettibone officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Maxine was born May 24, 1919, in Oberlin, Kan., to Elmer and Ethel (Bystrom) McKinzie. She graduated from Decatur Community High School in Oberlin in 1936. Maxine married Robert Ridgway on May 26, 1940, in Oberlin. They lived in McDonald, Kan., Beaver City and Alma before moving to Ravenna, Neb., where they owned and operated the Ben Franklin store for 25 years. They moved to Kearney in 1981. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. She also was involved with the Kearney Women's Club, Eastern Star, and P.E.O., in Kearney and Ravenna. Maxine enjoyed collecting antiques, and traveling with her husband during retirement.

Maxine is survived by her son, Hal Blake Ridgway of West Palm Beach, Fla.; grandsons, Matthew and Ethan Ridgway of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and brother, Don McKenzie and his wife, Roberta of Kearney.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, and daughter, Mary Lou Ridgway.
