Former McCook physician killed in fall from mountain

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. -- A former McCook, Neb., physician was killed in a fall on Longs Peak, Colo., on Saturday.

Authorities released the identity of Dr. Scott Corliss, 61, Monday.

He practiced in McCook in the 1990s.

A popular Greeley, Colo., physician, he fell approximately 100 to 150 feet when he slipped on ice along what is known as The Narrows section on the Keyhole Route to the top of the 14,000-foot mountain.

He was an experienced mountain climber, according to The Greeley Tribune.

Visitors called park rangers about the accident about 10 a.m. Saturday. A helicopter reached him about 4 p.m., but he was deceased, according to the park service.
