Former McCook family honored as 'Angels in Adoption'

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) welcomed the Rowe family of Nebraska City to her Senate office. Jim and Rebecca Rowe who were recognized Wednesday as 2016 Angels in Adoption for Nebraska. They were nominated earlier this year by Senator Fischer in recognition of their outstanding work as foster parents.

Senator Fischer released the following statement last week:

"Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of visiting with Jim and Rebecca Rowe at their bakery in Nebraska City. I was touched by their work to provide a loving home for children in need. After hearing their story, I was proud to nominate them for this year's Angels in Adoption award.

"The Rowes personify the Nebraska spirit by providing a loving home for those in need. I'm glad to see they will receive the recognition they deserve in our nation's capital tonight."

This past May, Senator Fischer visited the Rowe family's new bakery, Chocolate Dreams and Sweet Things, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. After hearing their story, she nominated them for this year's Angels in Adoption award. The national ceremony will take place this evening in Washington, D.C.

The Angels in Adoption program is coordinated by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute. Each year, Members of Congress have the opportunity to nominate extraordinary individuals who have a positive impact on orphans and foster children.
