'Maxine' quilt featured

Thursday, September 22, 2016

High Plains Museum board members Lois Tiller, left, Doris Ruppert and Steve Lenhart (and on the left, U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Vincent Wasia) pose with a popular quilt -- designed with a cartoon character crabby ol' lady "Maxine" theme by quilter Barbara Remer, who participated in a quilting class at McCook Community College. The museum's Heritage Days quilt show is called "All Ages, All Eras," and features quilts as new as "Maxine" and as old as the 150-year-old feather-stitch quilt done by Elizabeth Townley. The show features those quilts brought in by guest quilters and those in the museum's own collection. The museum will be open during the Heritage Days weekend, Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The museum and the historic Carnegie Library are located at 413 Norris. There is no admission charge.
