With the possibility of more hail Monday, some drivers took refuge under the big top on the Red Willow County fairgrounds. Rainfall amounts around McCook varied from 4 1/2 inches to 8 inches accompanied by hail and strong winds on Saturday evening, and from .75 to 1 1/2 inches with hail again on Monday evening. Barnett Park flooded Saturday, and continues to be barricaded. There are reports that rushing water damaged county roads throughout Southwest Nebraska. (Connie Jo Discoe/McCook Gazette)

On Monday evening of the long Labor Day weekend, a bare-footed Jennifer Hollars of McCook dances in the rain, a rain that ultimately failed to duplicate the quantity, damage or flooding of Saturday's torrents.

A 51-county motorcyclist braved the open roads Monday night. (Connie Jo Discoe/McCook Gazette)
