McCook farmer and historian Neal Corey sets up the farm and construction equipment that he has handcrafted and will display in the Open Class building of the Red Willow County Fair which runs through Sunday in McCook. Corey said he uses oak, walnut, cherry, purple heart and osage orange in his models. He will also display 3/4-inch scale replicas of the boats and canoes used from 1804 through 1806 by Lewis and Clark on their expedition through the newly-acquired territory of the Louisiana Purchase, west to the Pacific Coast, and back to St. Louis, Mo. Corey and his wife, MaryLee, participated in the Lewis and Clark Expedition Bicentennial reenactment in 2003-06. Neal often captained a 28 1/2-foot cottonwood canoe nicknamed "Rocky." The Open Class building is open to the public from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. today and Friday; and from 1 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
