OGALLALA, Neb. -- Gary Sigwing, 75, longtime Ogallala resident, died Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Bryan Health Medical Center East of Lincoln, Neb.

Gary, the son of William and Maxine (Dugger) Sigwing, was born March 9, 1941, in McCook, Neb. He attended McCook Public Schools. In June of 1959 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a radar man until May 1963. He then began a life of sales and retired from automotive sales.

In 1962 Gary married Doris McCormick. To this union three sons were born. He later married Bette Frates Goold on July 16, 1983 and the couple continued to reside in Ogallala. From this union he gained two step-daughters and a step-son.

Gary enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his best friend Bette. In his later years his greatest joy was watching all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren spending time at the Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Dennis, identical twin Larry and brother Billie.

Survivors include his wife Bette of Ogallala; his children: Greg (Amanda) Sigwing of Woodland Hills, Cal., Michael (Joni) Sigwing of Gering, Jim Goold of Brule, Paula (Richard) Kuehn of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jane (Chad) Reynoldson of Lincoln; daughter-in-law Chris Sigwing of Ogallala; three brothers: Johnny (Connie) Sigwing of Redding, Cal., Danny Sigwing of Ogallala, and Jerry Ray (JoAnn) Sigwing of Rochester, Minn., sister-in-law Leona Sigwing of Kansas City, Kan., and 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 4 to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home.

The Memorial Service will be Tuesday, June 7, at 2 p.m. in the Brule St. Johns Lutheran Church with Rev. Jon Dickmander officiating. The Service will be live streamed from drauckerfuneralhome.com, for those unable to attend.

The Inurnment of the Cremains will follow in the Ogallala Cemetery with military honors by the Keith County Veterans Organization.
