J. Bruce Hoye

Feb. 21, 1941 - March 16, 2016

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- J. Bruce Hoye, age 75, of North Platte, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at his home.

He was born Feb. 21, 1941, in Grand Island, to J. Gerald and Ila (Burmood) Hoye. Bruce received his Masters in art and administration at Kearney State and Undergraduate at Hastings College. On Oct. 30, 1965, he was united in marriage to Charlene Dudek of Fullerton, Neb. He was employed by the North Platte Public Schools as an art teacher for 29 years.

Bruce was a member of the Presbyterian Church, USA, Platte Valley Lodge No. 32 A.F. & A.M., Tehama Temple of the Shrine, NRA, Trapshooting, and Skeet Shooting Association, Platte River Sportsmen's Club, Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver, and received a Manitoba Canada Master Angler Released Award and North America.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene of North Platte; children, Sharese (James) Wallace, Kaitlyn and Ashley of Columbus, Ohio, Greg (Tracy) Hoye, Ava, Justine, Carmen and Calvin of Omaha, and Kurt Hoye Jessica and Abigail of Sidney, and a cousin, Jenise Harper of Southern California. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at the Presbyterian Church in North Platte with Pastor Lyle Anderson officiating, with Masonic rites by Platte Valley Lodge No. 32 A.F. & A. M. Private family graveside services will be at the Wood River Cemetery.
