Community Hospital board reviews activities

McCOOK, Neb. -- At their board meeting Feb. 17, Community Hospital board of directors heard a balanced scorecard report, and quarterly compliance, performance improvement and risk management reports.

Steve Shaner , Strategic Planning Director shared the second quarter 2016 balanced scorecard report, reporting on results and trends of the four seeds: People, Service, Quality and Finance. The overall score was at 5.13 (out of 10) with four scores up, five scores the same and eight scores down.

Jessica Johnson, Director of Compliance, presented the annual compliance risk assessment. Each year, Community Hospital department directors are asked to identify compliance risks, the likelihood of the risk, and the controls in place to mitigate those risks that could significantly affect the organization's mission and reputation. This report was submitted to the board.

Joleen Bradley, Patient Safety and Performance Improvement Director, updated the board on performance improvement, patient safety and risk management activities.

Board Education

Under board education, the board reviewed a board member job description. They were also made aware of two upcoming board education conferences and learned more about CAHPS, which is the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems.

Consent Agenda

Minutes were approved from the January 20 regular meeting of the board of directors. Minutes were also approved from the January 12 medical staff regular meeting and the Feb. 5 Policy, Budget and Finance regular meeting.

Action to be Taken

Directors approved appointments and reappointments for Consulting Medical Staff Privileges, and reappointments for Allied Health Staff Privileges. They also approved the 2015 Community HealthCare and Hospice annual program \valuation.
