McCOOK, Neb. -- The Heritage Senior Center is again hosting a Christmas Eve brunch after finding success with the event last year. Reservations are required and the menu includes waffles, sausage links, breakfast casserole and hash browns, with fruit juice and other refreshments.

Serving begins at 10 a.m. on Dec. 24.

Senior Center Director Beth Siegfried said earlier this week the brunch attracted a large turnout last year with families enjoying a break from cooking during the holiday season. She said reservations were definitely needed to ensure enough food was available.

The senior center is always open to the public and serves lunch Monday through Friday, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. There is no charge for patrons age 60 and older, although a $3 donation is encouraged. The cost is $6.50 for patrons age 12 to 59 and those age 11 and younger are charged $3 per meal.

Reservations are encouraged by 9:15 a.m. the morning you plan to eat at the senior center, to help kitchen staff ensure adequate food is prepared. For reservations call 345-1760.

Siegfried said reservations were always helpful but the senior center also welcomes a couple of walk-ins daily. "We have not had to turn anyone away yet, but have come close a few times," she said with a chuckle.
