Zoning board to consider setback variance for Highland Subdivision

Friday, June 26, 2015

McCOOK, Neb. -- Property owners of several vacant lots in a subdivision adjacent to the Heritage Hills Gold Course hope to loosen-up setback requirements, making the lots easier to build on in the future.

The McCook Board of Zoning Adjustment will consider a request for a front-yard setback requirement variance Monday evening during their regularly scheduled meeting, 5:30 p.m., at the McCook Municipal Center.

Ron and Doris Friehe have requested the variance, which would reduce the setback requirement from 20 feet to 10 feet, on lots they have listed for sale.

City staff has indicated the request appears warranted due to above ground power lines, shallow lots and difficult topography and recommends approval, according to the meeting agenda.

The effected property includes lots 6 through 11 of block 1, and lots 15C, 15D and 15E of block 3, in the Highland Subdivision. The lots are located on the west edge of the golf course, situated on both sides of Spyglass Street.

The Board of Zoning Adjustment will coordinate a public hearing on the item prior to considering the request to grant the variance.
