Final concept and design images have been released for the first two phases of the McCook skatepark to be built at Kelley Park. An overlay above shows the location in southwest Kelley Park, with north toward the top. Representatives from the local fundraising group "Build McCook a Skatepark" have accumulated more than $80,000 in donations and pledges toward the $115,000 needed for construction of phase one and two of the project. The contracted design and construction firm, Grindline of Seattle, Wash., indicated it could begin construction as early as May 1. Organizers are scheduled to meet Thursday evening, 7 p.m. at the Keystone, to coordinate fundraising efforts related to reaching their goal.

  • Thanks Rex for your leadership on this project. I hope the local fund raising group gets the park built yet this summer.
