Road project suspended

HAYES CENTER, Neb. -- The Nebraska Department of Roads have suspended a road project, from the Highway 25 and Highway 25a junction to Hayes Center, for the winter.

The reclamation process on the project, which began in April, is time- and weather-dependent. It requires that it be covered within 28 days to prevent structural damage.

Give the restrictions of asphalt placement due to temperature requirements and the unpredictability of the weather this time of year, the agency determined that it was in the best interest of the traveling public to delay the reclamation process until next spring.

The contractor has been required to repair and maintain this portion of Highway N-25 to an acceptable level for public transportation at no additional cost to the state. Road construction was completed in the past few weeks to prepare the project for winter conditions.
