LINCOLN, Neb. -- Seven miles of asphalt highway and replacement of five bridges east and west of Hendley in Furnas County is one of the major projects included in the Nebraska Department of Roads 2015 Surface Transportation Program publication released this week.

Director Randy Peters said the publication details how the department plans to use the taxpayer's highway user dollars to provide the best state highway system possible for all Nebraskans and the traveling public.

The 2015 State Highway System Program is published at $457 million and is funded from state and federal highway user taxes and fees. The Local System Program for city streets and county roads totals $303 million and is funded with state, federal and local highway user revenues.

A total of 153 projects will be let to contract on the State Highway System during fiscal year 2015.
