McCOOK, Neb. -- Local auto racing fans and competitors will have to wait a few weeks to rev their engines, as the previously scheduled auto races at the Red Willow County Raceway, located at the fairgrounds in McCook, have been cancelled due to inclement weather.

According to a message posted just after noon on their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/rwcraceway), operators of the raceway were still hopeful that they'd be able to drop the green flag this evening; unfortunately, in a later message, they announced that the races would have to be called off for the night.

However, they did say that tonight's races would be re-scheduled, and that they plan on being ready to go for their next scheduled events on June 6.
