McCook Firefighter Steve Renner, right, presents Anne Trail with a check for $260 to support the McCook Adopt-A-Chaplain military care package program. Renner won best mustache during the "Mustache March" charity fundraising contest and selected which non-profits benefitted. 21 city employees participated, including fire, police and utility department representatives. Firefighter Dan Hartwell's month long growth received the most votes for worst mustache and his image was posterized throughout the fire department, as seen in the background between Renner and Trail. The proceeds were split between Trail's program and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. The fire department intends to organize a charity basketball tournament, pitting the fire department against local law enforcement officers, as their next fundraising activity.
