Hand surgeon is killed in car crash

McCOOK, Nebraska--Community Hospital officials learned this morning that Scott Carroll, D.O., visiting hand surgeon from North Platte, died in a car accident near Denver some time last night or early this morning.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Carroll's family and friends," said Jim Ulrich, Community Hospital President & CEO. "Dr. Carroll will truly be missed by all of us. He was a wonderful surgeon and a wonderful person," he said. "Dr. Carroll was a successful visiting hand surgeon for Community Hospital for a number of years and was loved by his patients. He will be remembered and appreciated always."

He was originally from Paxton, Nebraska, and was associated in North Platte Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Associates with Mark McKenzie, M.D. and John Hannah, M.D. Dr. Carroll began seeing patients at the Medical Specialists Center in McCook in 2008.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
