Blessings from above

Roofers from CTE Construction in McCook and AA Roofing in Holdrege, Nebraska, take a short break from repairing a porch roof in McCook on Friday morning. An anonymous individual, together with the roofing companies, donated the time and funds for the repairs. "I haven't stepped foot in a church for 40 years," said the individual, "but it's all about helping people out who need it. Jesus paid for this." The owner of the home is a single mom who had no idea the work was being done. Over the weekend, she and her son baked cookies for those involved with the repairs. Shown from left are Abel Acosta of CTE, who is 67 years old and still roofing, Alfonzo from AA Roofing, Dion Hancock and Eric Skeen of CTE and Hugo of AA Roofing.

  • i used to do some roofing in my day and i remember that there was a lot of regulations to me it looks like the paper got a picture that the osha could have a blast with. if memory serves i think these guys are supposed . have safety glasses tied off ladder i think 3 feet over the roof top someone in a safety orange jacket.

if i was the group in the photo i would be more selective of the publicity that I got. that might wound up costing that bunch hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines.

oh, and i happened to be talking to the guy that donated the money for the good deed which was very nice no doubt, but if he paid for the material and .labor, why is that roofing bunch getting recognition for the good deed. i think there was some mis-information in that story. that's kind of dishonest instead of being a do gooder i think.

  • BT, you are often misinformed and I would hope to think that this is yet another case of that. Surely no one is taking cudos for someone elses cherity.... I should hope not.

In any case, however, you are not wrong to note that OSHA would get a kick out of that photo. Perhaps these photo ops should be better thought out.

Whoever is the generous cheriteer of this good deed, hats off to you.
