OBERLIN, Kansas -- Norma Richards, 89, died Wednesday (Jan. 30, 2013), at Hays Medical Center in Hays Kansas.

She was born Sept. 30, 1923, in Jennings, Kansas, to F. J. "Ted" Dodson Jr. and Della Van Sickel. She was raised on a farm southwest of Jennings.

She attended Jennings grade school and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1941.

She married Allen Richards on Aug. 24, 1941, in Oberlin. They lived on a farm northeast of Oberlin. They moved to Oberlin in 1980.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, Rebekahs, Quilt Club and Widows and Friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, Frank J. Dodson Jr. and "Ted" and Della Dodson; husband, Allen Richards; sisters, Bonnie Terrell and Frances Courange; and grandson, Boyd Hanschild.

Survivors include children, Gary (Marsha) Richards of Oberlin and Deanna Hanschild of Oberlin; sisters, Violet Foster of Jennings and Ila Mae Macy of Alta Vista; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren,

Services are Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home with Dennis Brown officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. until service time, at Pauls Funeral Home.
