On track for a big finish

Sprint cars jockey for position as they race down the back straightaway at McCook Speedway Thursday night. The races on the quarter-mile track at the fairgrounds are a consistently popular event on the Red Willow County Fair's entertainment schedule. Other vehicle classes that raced Thursday night included IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sportmods and IMCA Modifieds. Tonight's highlights include a Christian rock concert by "Vota" in the Kiplinger Arena at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's events include mutton busting at 4 p.m. and a chore relay at 6 p.m., both in the Kiplinger Arena, the 4-H premium sale in the Big Top at 5:30 p.m., crowning of Miss Southwest Nebraska Rodeo Queen and Princess at 7:45 p.m., the NSRA Rodeo at 8 p.m. and a dance at 8:30 with County Road 5 at the Kiplinger Arena. Sunday events include Cowboy Church at 10 a.m., the draft horse competition at 12:30 p.m., both in the Kiplinger Arena, and the NSRA Rodeo in front of the grandstands at 8 p.m.
