Construction hits $8 million

McCOOK, Nebraska -- McCook area construction project costs for 2012 continue to fall short of 2011 and are now more than $3 millions less, when comparing construction numbers posted during the first six months of each year. The $8,179,318 year-to-date total for 2012 is also less than a third of the $27 million posted during the same time period in 2010.

According to figures provided by city staff the there have been no 2012 construction projects in the School/Public building category, which combined for more than $8 million in 2011 and make up the largest variance between the first half of each year.

2012 : $8,179,318

2011 : $11,233,176*

2010 : $27,022,424

*2011 construction numbers posted a strong second half of the year and ended only $350,000 shy of the $29,450,376 posted for 2010.

Year-to-date construction fees received by the city through June

2012 : $26,593

2011 : $15,173

2010 : $51,761
