Martha Margaret 'Peg' Frack

BEAVER CITY, Nebraska -- Martha Margaret "Peg" Frack, 86, of Holdrege, Nebraska died Friday, (Oct. 7, 2011), at Mary Lanning Hospital at Hastings, Nebraska, after a year and half battle with lung cancer.

She was born Sept. 29, 1925 at Heartwell, Nebraska to Abie and Eula (Bull) Elliott.

She graduated from Heartwell, Nebraska High School in 1943. She moved to Omaha and was employed as a telephone operator. She moved to Hastings, Nebraska where she worked at the Navy Depot.

On April 19, 1946, she married Harold Lowell Frack at the Methodist Church in Hastings.

In 1947, she graduated from cosmetology school in Hastings. Following graduation they moved to Holbrook, Nebraska, where she was a beauty operator.

They built and operated a grocery store in Holbrook, later a locker plant was added and Harold's brother Duane "Corky" and his wife, Mary Frances came into the business. They later moved to the family farm south of Hendley, Nebraska, which they operated until the mid 1980s.

She worked as an assistant postmaster in Holbrook, an ASCS associate in Beaver City, postmistress in Hendley, and worked for 16 years at B-D in Holdrege until her retirement in 1984.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and was active in United Methodist Women. She volunteered with the After School Program, United Methodist Thrift Shop and Meals on Wheels.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; sisters, Lenora Nelson, Ilene Karnes; brother-in-laws, Claris W. "Steve" Nelson, Lawrence "Bud" Karnes, Duane Frack; and a nephew.

Survivors include son, James E. Frack and wife, Rhonda of Norcatur, Kansas; daughters, Betty Frack of Holdrege, Debra and husband, Mike Chesterman of Nebraska City, Nebraska; sister, Barbara A. Elliott of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Mary Frances Frack of Lincoln; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

A memorial services will be Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at 11 a.m.at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege with the Rev. Dale Lambert officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
