Laird, Thompson engagement

Kayla Ranae Laird and Jarrod Arron Thompson of Bloomington, Illinois, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.

Parents of the couple are Scott and Patty Laird of Hayes Center, Nebraska, and Arron and Mary Jane Thompson of Morton, Illinois. Grandparents of the prospective bridegroom are Ernie Mohr of North Platte, Nebraska, and Glenda Hays of Monticello, Illinois.

The bride-to-be attended high school at Hayes Center High and spent her first two years of college at McCook Community College. She is a graduate of McCook Community College and the University of Nebraska-Omaha, majoring in public relations. She moved back to McCook following college before eventually relocating to Bloomington. She is employed at the Law Firm of Koth & Gregory, P.C. in Bloomington.

The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Illinois State University, majoring in marketing. He is employed at Childer's Door Service of Central Illinois, as manager of marketing and sales, in Bloomington.

A Sept. 17, 2011, wedding is planned for 2 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Platte.

The prospective bridegroom's mother was raised in North Platte and married his father, who was from Illinois, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

The couple plan to enjoy a Caribbean honeymoon following the wedding and will be making their home in Bloomington with their pets, Taz and Beef.
