Fountain repair

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Tony Rouse, left, and Ron Maris load the "Titanic 2" onto the trailer after cleaning moss and debris from the water intake of one of Barnett Park's fountains on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. Rouse rebuilt the old pontoon boat's deck with a trap door and hoist to service the fountains, which have proven to be a popular attraction at the park. Defective pumps on three of the four fountains had to be repaired under warranty, and filters to add color to the lights had to be removed after they became blocked with moss. A third fountain, with a different type of spray pattern, is slated to be added to the south pond next year, for a total of five. The current four will be pulled out of the ponds later this fall and stored until spring.
