With Christian musician Fernando Ortega looking on from right and the Rev. Chris Atkins and his wife, Eunice, from the left, the Rev. Bruce Lester speaks to the audience at Sunday night's concert at the McCook's Memorial Auditorium. Besides performing his well-known worship music, below, Ortega delighted the audience with stories about his family, including his grandfather, a farmer and weaver, and his wife and new baby. Ortega is 52 and his wife is 47. The concert raised some $25,000 toward Chris Atkins' medical bills related to a brain tumor and complications. More information is included in today's editorial on page 4, or online at Ortega's Web site and Atkins' blog.

  • What a wonderful evening of inspiration & music! God Bless Pastor Chris, his family, and Fernando Ortega!!

Those who weren't able to be there missed an amazing 2 hours of uplifting song and story.
