NTV Athlete of the Week and Play of the Night: McCook's Connor Larson

Connie Jo Discoe/McCook Daily Gazette McCook High School sophomore Connor Larson made 10 3-pointers in 15 attempts in Tuesday night's 67-61 win over Phillipsburg at the MHS gymnasium. Larson scored 37 points.

KEARNEY -- McCook High School sophomore Connor Larson got the "daily double" of sorts from Nebraska TV/NTV -- KHGI (Channel 10 in McCook).

Larson, a 5-foot-10 guard, was named the Athlete of the Week for his 37-point effort in Tuesday's win over Phillipsburg, which included 10 3-point shots.

He also earned Play of the Night honors for the 50-foot shot he swished at the halftime buzzer that tied the score at 27-27.

Larson's accomplishments were announced by NTV's Seth Denney, a McCook High School alum who owns the MHS boys record for 3-pointers in a season. Denney made 68 treys during the 1989-90 season (he also owns the school record for assists in a season with 158).

Chances are pretty good that Larson will break Denney's season mark for 3-pointers. The 10 treys were mentioned by Denney as being the school record.
