McCook boys, Cambridge girls top field at McCook JV track meet

McCook and Cambridge High School junior varsity teams took the team titles at the McCook JV Invitational Monday.

McCook won the boys title.

The Bison won 9 of the 17 events scored. The relay team of Chad Stull, Brad Baumbach, Tye Smith and Dillon Harpham won the 4x100 meter relay in 47.6.

Harpham teamed up with Michael Grabowski, Grant Wilcox and Tanner Steinhour to take second in the 4x400.

Lexington took second in the boys team standings, Holdrege was third, Chase County took fourth and Cambridge was fifth.

Hitchcock County ended the day in sixth, Ogallala was seventh and McCook's B team was eighth.

Frankie Peterson put in two first place finishes to help Cambridge's girls win the team title. Peterson won the 400 meter run in 1:04 and the triple jump with 31-08.5.

Holdrege finished third in the team scores, Hitchcock County was fourth and Ogallala took fifth in the girls division. Jaci Wright led Hitchcock County with two wins. Wright won the 100 meter dash in 13.8 and the long jump with 15-05.

McCook's girls team took second winning five of the 17 events. The Bison relay team of Amanda Einspahr, Kristen Green, Megan Carfield and Hailey Esch won the 4x100 meter relay in 54.8.

Haley Harpham, Gretchen Sehnert, Amber Piper and Morgan Chitwood won the 4x400 meter relay in 4:44.3.

Piper, Kelsea Geschwenter, Becky Goodenberger and Alex Trew won the 4x800 meter relay in 11:33.2.

"The McCook JV's picked up five first places and a number of season PR's," said Bison JV girls coach Steve Clapp.

"Leading the way as their varsity counterparts did a week earlier, was a sweep of the relays.

"The McCook JV's continue to improve as the season nears an end. The 9-10 JV's will complete their season at North Platte next week."
