Dixon, McConville dominate Hayes Center Invite

Dundy County-Stratton boys win

Wauneta-Palisade's Blair Dixon continues to run rampant on the tracks of Southwest Nebraska.

After the dust settled at the McCook High School track Wednesday, Dixon had set two Hayes Center Invitational meet records, tied another and captured four gold medals.

Dixon set a new meet record in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.60, breaking the time of 12.70 set in 1999 by her coach Dawn (Applegarth) Doetker.

Dixon broke the record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.30. The record of 16.10 was set in 2001 by Mary Nickerson of Medicine Valley.

Dixon matched the record time of 26.40 in the 200 meter dash, also set by (Applegarth) Doetker in 1999.

Dixon also won gold in the 400 meter dash with a 1:01.10.

Layne McConville of Southwest continued to dominate the distance events, winning the 800 meter run in 2:32.60, the 1600 in 5:54.00, the 3200 meter in 12:39.70.

McConville and running partners Morgan Potthoff, Miranda Sheets and Abby Houghtelling won the 4 x 800 meter relay in a time of 11:08.30.

Hitchcock County Falcon Ashley Garner set a new meet record in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 9-06. Christine Fisher of Medicine Valley set the mark in 2005 at 9-00.

Southwest jumper Lisa Lord grabbed two golds in the long jump with a jump of 16-03, and the triple jump at 36-08.

Brooke Hansen of Dundy County won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 50.00.

Hansen picked up another gold in the 4 x 100 meter relay with teammates Courtney Pierson, Amanda Downey and Cassie Starks with a time of 53.70.

The Dundy County team of Hansen, Starks, Downey and Taylor Lutz won the 4 x 400 meter relay with a time of 4:33.40.

Lisa Faimon of Hitchcock County won the high jump with a mark of 5-02.

Medicine Valley shot put thrower Kallie Welch won with a throw of 34-11.25.

Shelby Hamilton of Wauneta-Palisade won the discus with a toss of 105-07.

Boys events

Jared Shillington of Dundy County won the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:56.80 and the 3200 meter run in 10:32.60.

Shillington, with teammates Trevor Confer, Brandon Craddock and Brandon Shirkey, won the 4 x 800 meter relay with a time of 9:13.20.

Sprinter Sam Matson of Hitchcock County grabbed two golds in the 100 meter dash with time of 11.10 and the 400 with a time of 51.70.

Hayes Center's Brian Christner won gold in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.50.

The Hayes Center team of Christner, Jack Loomis, Evan Messersmith and Keifer Messersmith won the 4 x 100 meter relay with a time of 47.50.

Medicine Valley hurdler Ben Wolfe won the hurdle events with a time of 16.10 in the 110 meter and 43.50 in the 300 meter.

Steven Sander of Dundy County won the pole vault at 12-06 and the long jump at 19-03.75.

Dundy County Tiger Kyle Glidden won golds in the triple jump with a 39-03 jump and the discus with a throw of 153-01.

Tyler Clifford of Hayes Center put in a person best in the high jump clearing the bar at 6-02.

Eric Lueth of Medicine Valley threw the shot 48-11.25 for a win and a personal best.
