Gene O. Morris/McCook Daily Gazette Riley Loop, a 10-year-old from McCook, shot a hole-in-one at Broken Tee.

Ten-year-old Riley Loop made a hole-in-one Monday at Broken Tee Par Three Golf Course in McCook.

Riley, son of Jason and Valerie Loop, used an eight-iron club and Top Flite ball for his ace on the 81-yard par three fourth hole.

When he saw the ball roll into the cup, Riley screamed. It was the first hole-in-one for the fourth grader at Central Elementary.

Riley is from a golfing family. He received his first club when he was one and started golfing at three.

On Labor Day Monday, Riley was golfing with one of his best friends Aaron Coburn.

"We went golfing to celebrate Aaron's 11th birthday," Riley said.

Riley's grandparents are Jerry and Annette Bauer and Gale and Becky Loop, all of McCook.

Both Becky and Gale have made holes in one and so has Riley's uncle, Tyler, who aced the fifth hole at Heritage Hills when he was nine years old.

Riley's dad, Jason, is one of McCook's best golfers. Jason was a high school state champion who grew up playing with Chris Wiemers, who is now a professional golfer.

But in one regard, Riley has outdone his dad. Riley now has a hole-in-one. Up to now, Jason doesn't.
