McCook Rebels 12 and under softball squad splits with NP

The McCook Rebels 12 and under girls fastpitch softball team split a doubleheader with the North Platte Junior Belles Thursday night at Jaycee Park.

The Rebels won the first game 7-6 and lost the second game 6-0.

In the first game, McCook's Jenna Smith was the winning pitcher for the Rebels. She struck out two and walked four.

The Rebels collected 12 hits, including two each by Megan Rokusek, Megan Ruppert and Riley Allen. Madison Chitwood doubled.

Jenna Smith, Kaylee Samway, Marisa Esch, Rachel Leitner, Brit Broomfield and Khyla Krepcik singled.

Samway drove in two runs, Ruppert one and Broomfield one. Rokusek, Chitwood, Smith, Leitner, Allen and Krepcik each scored 1 run.

In the second game, which lasted five innings, Samway was the pitcher of record for the Rebels. She struck out five and walked nine.

The Rebels had just two hits. Samway and Ruppert each singled. Allen walked.

The Rebels will take an 18-5-1 record to the Columbus Tournament this weekend.
