McCook Juniors blast Holdrege

HOLDREGE -- The McCook First Central Bank Juniors American Legion A team evened its record to 3-3 by blasting Holdrege 14-2 in five innings Tuesday at Holdrege.

Adam Kruger and Austin Larson combined on a five-hitter. Kruger pitched the first four innings for the win. Larson pitched the final inning.

Larson went 3-for-4 at the plate. Kruger and Shane Wallen belted home runs.

FCB Juniors A team coach Lirin Yost said tonight's doubleheader at home against Cozad was canceled because Cozad does not have enough players.

There is a possibility that the two team could hook up in a makeup game this weekend at the Holdrege Tournament.

The Juniors play games Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

FCB Juniors B team opens season with two wins -- The FCB Juniors B team, coached by Chris Wallace, opened the season Tuesday at home with two wins in a doubleheader sweep against the McCook RDG team.

The Juniors B team won 5-1 and 6-5.

Keith Wallace was the winning pitcher in the first game. He pitched a complete game.

The Juniors B team pitchers in the second game were Drew Shields and Ryan Powell.

The Juniors B team's next game is June 14 at Gothenburg. The Juniors B team plays at North Platte June 16.

Both games start at 5:30 p.m.
