Eldon Lee Houlden

ELWOOD?-- Eldon Lee Houlden, 74, died Sunday (April 29, 2007) at Elwood Care Center.

He was born on June 1, 1932, in northwest Gosper County, to Benjamin and Helen (Bragg) Houlden.

He grew up in the Elwood area helping his dad with the farm work. He graduated from Elwood High School in 1950.

On July 30, 1950, he married Delores Misterek. Over the years, he would work at numerous jobs around the Elwood community during the day and then would return to the farm. He also did carpentry work.

He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Elwood.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Mildred, and brother David Houlden.

He was survived by his wife, Delores Houlden of Elwood; son, Robert Houlden of Elwood; daughters, Kathy and husband, Jay Beck of Elwood and Erin and husband, Kurt Kugler of Elwood; brother, Jerrold and wife, Marilyn Houlden of Caldwell, Kan.; brothers-in-law, Lee and wife, Darlene Misterek of Elwood and Dean Misterek of New Baden, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are Wednesday, at 11 a.m., at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at Elwood with the Rev. Jeff W. Ernstmeyer officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
