The McCook Community College softball team dropped both ends of Thursday's home doubleheader to Pratt Community College, Pratt, Kan.

MCC lost the opener 15-6 and the second game 12-7.

The games were played at the Jaycee Sports Complex in McCook.

MCC's Tyne Willert, who plays first base for the Indians, went 7-for-8 in the two games with two runs-batted-in.

Willert is a freshman from Erie, Colo.

Sierra Van Pool, a freshman from Minden, hit a two-run triple in Game 2.

Sarah Babbitt, a freshman from Centennial, Colo., went 2-for-3 in Game 2

"We play a tough physical game," said MCC softball coach Della Mitchel. "It's early in the season, but I was impressed with our hitting in last night's games against Pratt.

"Even when we were down by seven in Game 2, we began hitting and pulled within one run. This shows that this team has heart.

"The character of a team is not defined by how they perform when they are winning, it's created by facing adversity with heart and passion."

MCC dropped to 0-7.

The Indians host Dawson, Mont., in an 1 p.m. doubleheader at Jaycee Sports Complex.
