HOLDREGE --  McCook's freshmen boys rolled Holdrege 52-46 Tuesday. "This was a competitive game from start to finish, we held the lead throughout the game and withstood several runs by Holdrege," said Bison Coach Bill Beckenhauer. "I really liked how the kids finished the game, I felt we played very well in the fourth quarter and shot a high percentage from the free throw line.

Offensively we did a good job against their 1-3-1 zone, it was the first time all year that anyone has run that particular zone against us. Also their zone and man press didn't bother us, we did a good job running our press breakers.

Defensively, we played well in our man to man defense, the kids did a good job of figuring out their offense and how to pace themselves correctly. Holdrege hurt us a little bit with their three-point shooting but not when it counted in the game.

This group continues to work had, and I am really pleased at our fundamental execution of the game. The kids are winning game because of their willingness to do the things that it takes to win, and playing well as a team."

Tye Smith led the Bison in scoring with 19 points. Chad Stull followed with 14 and AJ Huffman and Marcus Wilson both had 6.

Dempsey Smith led Holdrege with 12 points. Chance Hohensee added in 10 points and Lincoln Pearson had 8.
