MCC women lose at Otero

LA JUNTA, Colo. -- The McCook Community College women's basketball team dropped a 70-54 decision at La Junta, Colo., Monday to Otero Junior College.

Kamillia Brown led the Indians (6-12, 0-3 Region IX South Sub-Regional) with 18 points.

Amanda Terpstra added 16 points and Bridgette Riddick 7.

The Rattlers improved to 16-5 overall.

Both the MCC women's team and men's team will play their next four games at home at True Hall Gymnasium.

The Indian women's team hosts Brown Mackie College-Salina at 5 p.m. Friday and Northeast Community College-Norfolk at 2 p.m. Saturday.

"As far as this weekend's games, I am excited about both games," said MCC women's coach Michedlle Orton. "It should be a good weekend for us. We have Brown Mackie on Friday and Northeast on Saturday.

"Both games will be tough ones for us, but the challange is what makes them fun. I think our team is improving every game and they are playing well as a team. It's also parents weekend so there is a lot of excitement in the basketball programs this week."

The MCC men (9-12) host Western Nebraska at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Central Community College-Columbus at 7 p.m. Friday, Northeast-Norfolk at 4 p.m. Saturday and Southeast-Beatrice at 4 p.m. Feb. 3.
