DENTON, Texas -- James E. Claussen, 59, died Monday (Jan. 1, 2007) at Denton, Texas.

He was born Aug. 9, 1946, in McCook, to Donald and Genola A. (Waldo) Claussen. He was raised in Oberlin and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1964.

He attended Fort Hayes State University and graduated in 1968, with a degree in Psychology. He married Candy Olson, in 1965.

He lived in Colby, Goodland, Garden City, Dodge City and Oberlin and then to Denton, Texas. He worked as a Social Rehabilitation Service. He married Bonnie Jamen in 1998.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Claussen in 1991; one step-son, Jeff Jamen; one brother, Charles "Chuck" Claussen; and a sister, Donna Jo Hullet.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Denton, Texas; parents, Don and Genola Claussen of Oberlin; one son, Mark and wife, Tara of Wamego, Kan.; two step-sons, Jon Jamen and Brett Jamen and wife, Jennifer all of Denton, Texas; sister-in-law, Cathy Claussen of Oberlin; six grandchildren; and one niece and three nephews.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin, with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating.

There is no visitation, his body was cremated.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Oberlin Cemetery Memorial Tree Fund.
