Robert Dean Wilcox, Sr., 76, died Thursday (Aug. 24, 2006) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

He was born July 24, 1930, at McCook, to Roy and Mildred (Adams) Wilcox.  He graduated from McCook High School in 1948. He served in the National Guard from 1948 until 1954.

He married Phyllis Eileen Wagner on June 26, 1949 at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook.  He was the owner/operator of Wilcox Well Drilling.  He also farmed and raised cattle, and was a life-time resident of the McCook community.

He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mildred; and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of McCook; sons, Robert Wilcox, Jr. and wife, Cindy of McCook, Gary Wilcox and wife, Marina of Montgomery, Texas, Richard Wilcox and wife, Lisa of McCook; daughters, Nancy Stritt and husband, John of Kearney and Kimberly Carpenter and husband, Michael of Hiawatha, Kan.; brother, Dale Wilcox and wife, Phyllis of Aurora, Colo.; sisters, Dian Parsons of McCook, Dona Hughes of Hays, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon and Sunday from 4- 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. The family will be greeting friends from 4- 6 p.m.  Friends may sign his book at the funeral home or send condolences online at www.carpenterbreland.com.

Memorials can be given in his name to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Nebraska Chapter of Parkinson Disease Association.
