LINCOLN -- Senior Aaron Plas and junior Nate Probasco added to the strong academic tradition of Nebraska athletics Tuesday, as both athletes were named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The Husker award winners became the 230th and 231st all-time NU student-athletes to earn recognition from CoSIDA.

Plas followed up being named Nebraska's 2005-06 Male Student-Athlete of the Year during the spring with second-team Academic All-America honors.

The McCook native recently concluded his distinguished athletic career at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after posting All-America finishes during his previous three national meet appearances.

Plas, who sports a 3.63 grade-point average in business administration, was a three-time first-team academic All-Big 12 honoree and winner of the 2005 Big 12 men's outdoor high jump title.

Probasco, one of Nebraska's most decorated men's sprinters, also was named to the Academic All-American second team.

A two-time NCAA All-American and four-time Big 12 champion specializing in the short sprints, the Scribner native has earned a pair of conference titles in the 200-meter dash and 4x100-meter relay, while also earning one national honor in each event. He set the Husker school record in the outdoor 200 last spring as a sophomore. Probasco owns a 3.76 GPA in history and is two-time academic All-Big 12 honoree.

Plas and Probasco became only the seventh and eight Husker men's track and field athletes to be honored by CoSIDA.

Nebraska continues to lead the nation in CoSIDA Academic All-Americans for all sports, while Notre Dame ranks second with 174 honorees.
