Area runners compete in Lincoln Marathon

Kay Flaska McCook's Marvin Metzer (405), 78 years young, competed in 26-mile Lincoln Marathon Sunday. Metzer finished 926th with a time of 5 hours, 28 minutes, 11 seconds.

LINCOLN -- Area runners took part in the Lincoln Marathon Sunday in Lincoln.

Ray Chmiel, Julie Gumb, Donovan Redl, Becky Redl, Tracy Flaska and Peg Andrews, all from McCook, competed in the half-marathon.

Troy Swartz, Randy Andrews, Bryce Felker, Martha Roe and Marvin Metzer of McCook and Dennis Fahrenbruch of Culbertson competed in the 26-mile run.

Chmiel finished 123rd in the 13-mile run. Swartz finished in the top 100 of the 26-mile group. He placed 98th.
