Bison boys basketball coach Tim Garcia is excited to announce the beginning of the Junior Bison Basketball program.

The Junior Bison program will be focusing on boys basketball for grades 4-6 here in McCook and will consist of weekly instruction from current and former Bison boys basketball players and coaches as well as community volunteers.

The instruction will focus on the fundamentals of basketball and provide players an opportunity to learn several of the same drills, defenses, offenses, and plays the Bison boys basketball players perform during practices and games.

Each session will end with competitive scrimmaging and a rules discussion. The first session will be on at 7 p.m. April 6 in the Senior High gymnasium and run throughout the year every Thursday night (unless a school function is scheduled in the gym).

There is no cost for this program and all boys in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades are encouraged to attend.

All players should have proper basketball shoes while on the court and be dressed in shorts and a shirt. If possible, a reversible tank top is recommended with simple light and dark color contrasts.

Parents should ensure the players are well hydrated prior to their participating every night. Parents are also welcome to attend and watch the sessions.
