OBERLIN - Darlene F. Black, 77, of Oberlin, died Friday (March 17, 2006) at the Decatur County Good Samaritan Hospital in Oberlin.

She was born July 20, 1928, in St. Francis, to Frank and Florence (Arrants) Larson. She was raised in St. Francis and received her education at St. Francis schools.

On May 11, 1947, she married Carl Black in Atwood. The couple lived in St. Francis, Bird City, Dresden, Hoxie and Oberlin. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Oberlin American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Black; an infant daughter, Carla Black, son, Ronnie Black; and brothers, Robert and Dale Larson.

Survivors include a son, Terry and wife, Sue Black of Oberlin; two daughters, Marcia and husband, Arlie Ryan of Solomon, Kan., and Dixie and husband, Richard Fields of Menlo, Kan.; one sister, Margaret Shoemaker of Tacoma, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at the Faith Lutheran Church in Oberlin at 2 p.m., Tuesday. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.
