Dora C. Michel

ATWOOD -- Dora C. Michel, 100, died Tuesday (March 14, 2006) at the Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.
She was born Aug. 2, 1905, at Ludell, Kan., to Christian Wicke and Meta nee (Behrens) Wicke.
She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church on Aug. 13, 1905 and was confirmed on March 29, 1920, also at Trinity.
As a young girl she received her education at the Walsh School District No. 23.
On Oct. 6, 1927, she married Richard F. Michel at Trinity Lutheran Church at Ludell. She lived in the Atwood and Ludell area until October of 1998 when she moved to Northeast Kansas to live with her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard in 1986; a daughter, Berniece Morgan; a grandson, Troy Michel; and her brothers and sisters, Fred Wicke, Marie Schroeder, Crist Wicke, Minnie Reuber, Ernest Wicke, Anna Focke, William Wicke, Eric Wicke and Henry Wicke.
She is survived by her sons, Gilbert Michel and wife, Cathi of Newton, Kan., Richard Michel and wife, Judy of Ludell, Kan.; a daughter, Sylvia and husband, Bill Meyer of Topeka; sisters-in-law, Emma Nolte of Johnson, and Della Michel of Freistatt, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Services were today at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Atwood with Pastor Don White officiating. Interment was at the Atwood Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials to the Lutheran Hour and Redeemer Lutheran Church have been established in her name.
Williams Funeral Home of Atwood is in charge of arrangements.
