STRATTON -- Ted W. Pierce, 76, died Wednesday (Feb. 8, 2006) at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

He was born Feb. 17, 1929, to Charles E. and Lucy Belle (Cushing) Pierce in Stratton. He graduated from high school in Curtis in 1946.

On Oct. 10, 1948, he married Jeannine Randall.

He worked at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colo., before attending business school. He later returned to Stratton and farmed north and south of town. He worked at Miller Manufacturing and Miller Weeder Company and was in private retail business with Pierce Sales Company.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannine (Randall) Pierce on Sept. 11, 2005; parents, Charles and Belle Pierce; brother, Dwight Pierce; and two sisters, Ruby Truitt and Helen Miller Wyss.

Survivors include his children, Diana and husband, Gene Stoklasa of Grand Island, Phil Pierce and wife, Teresa of Ogallala, Teresa "Terri" Andersen of Beatrice and John Pierce and wife, Janice of Lincoln; brother, Richard Pierce of Stratton; sister-in-law, Marjorie Randall of Trenton; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A private family graveside service will take place at a later date.

Memorials are being accepted in his name for the Stratton Volunteer Ambulance.

Forch Funeral Home of Stratton is in charge of arrangements.
