Matt Hall qualifies for state diving
In a double dual with North Platte and Scottsbluff Friday at the McCook YMCA, McCook High School sophomore Matt Hall qualified for the state meet with a score of 307.40.
By qualifying for state early in the season, Hall can focus on perfecting his dives, adding new dives and improving his score every week, said Bison coach Lori Jumps.
Alyssa Cook and Rebecca Rawlings placed first and second with scores of 264.20 and 198.90, respectively.
Swimmers continue to improve with 6-of-8 relays improving their times.
The Bison boys have improved the most by taking six seconds off of the 200 free relay time and 15 seconds off of the 400 free relay time.
The 200 free relay includes Matt Hall, Tyler Cobb, Lewis Tapia and Ryan Ankersen.
The 400 free relay members are Tyler Cobb, Lewis Tapia, James Zlomke and Ryan Ankersen.
The Bison girls also improved their relay time by 19 seconds with the 400 free relay of Elexa Kotschwar, Kirstyn Shaffer, Jennifer Herron and Lyndsay Rupe.
Individual swimmers improved in 16 out of 21 races.
Most notable improvements were in the 100 free with Lyndsay Rupe and Lewis Tapia improving their times by eight seconds. Tyler Cobb also improved his 100 free time by six seconds.
"I am really pleased with the individual improvements of my swimmers," Jumps said. "They have set goals for themselves and are working hard to reach those goals."
McCook will host a double dual with North Platte and Grand Island on Jan. 6.
