Cambridge boys, girls down Hitchcock County

TRENTON -- Cambridge's boys basketball team rolled over Hitchcock County Thursday 52-29.

Brian Ballou tallied 16 points for the Trojans. Anthony Lytle was also a top scorer with 12 points.

Chancy Carlson and Austin Scott were the top scores for Hitchcock County.

"We had a hard time getting the ball in the basket, said Falcons' coach Mike Tines. "We played hard and had good intensity, we just couldn't seem to channel that into points."

The Trojans had 23 turnovers, 11 rebounds and 14 free throws. The Falcons had 18 turnovers, 20 steals and 11 total shots.

TRENTON -- Cambridge's girls basketball team edged out Hitchcock County Thursday 48-34.

Bailey Soucie led the Trojans in scoring with 12 points.

Traci Keyser, Cristin Bruckman and Shelby Schultz each scored 10 points.

Hitchcock County's Lexey Lewis totaled 8 points and teammate Ashley Garner scored 7.

"Cambridge has an excellent ball club, said Falcon Coach Doug Newcomb. "I thought our girls played well. I was pleased with how we played."

Cambridge was 6-11 in free throws and 21-56 in field goals. Hitchcock County went 8-18 in free throws and 12-45 for field goals.

MINDEN -- Southern Valley's girls basketball team fell to Minden Thursday 45-63. Megan Becker led the Eagles in scoring with 15 points.

Mallory Murdoch tallied 14 points for the Eagles.

Becky Jameson totaled 23 points for Minden. Sierra Van Pool was also a top scorer for the Whippets with 14 points.
