Dorothy J. Duckworth, 86, died Saturday (Aug. 27, 2005) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

She was born June 23, 1919, to Homer and Mabel (Bohling) Hampy in Florence, Mo. She married John G. Duckworth in California, Mo., on Jan. 26, 1946.

She was a member of the Indianola United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Riverside Club. She worked at the Boothray Memorial Hospital in Goodland, Kan., the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kan., and the Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge for 16 years. She was a resident of Hillcrest Nursing Home since 1993.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; infant son, James; and infant sister, Leanna.

Survivors include two sons, Bob and wife, Deb of Indianola and Frank and wife, Brenda of Indianola; daughter, Donna Stanzel and husband, David of Bartley; five grandchildren, Daniel Duckworth of Phoenix Ariz., Toni Lynn Duckworth of McCook, Melissa and husband, Jeremy Markey of Grand Junction, Colo., Jeremy Stanzel of Okinawa, Japan, and Bryan Duckworth of North Platte; one great-grandchild, Liberty Grace Markey; and two step-great-grandchildren, Zidane Markey and Aspen Robinson.

Services were today at the Indianola United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Rowe officiating. Burial will be in the Indianola Cemetery
